It all started as a hobby for me some 27 years ago. Every personal event or function was always attended with camera in hand looking for that exceptional photo shot. I would take plenty of pictures, develop double prints, keep a copy for myself and give the extra copy to the subject as a gift, mostly friends. I would always receive compliments on the quality and composition of the photos which made me smile. As time progressed, I was invited to more and more events and reminded not to forget my camera. The implication was clear, but I didn't mind because I loved photography and my friends and they loved my pictures.

One day, to my surprise, I was invited by a friend to come to an event as the paid photographer. Since I had never given this any thought in the past, I kindly declined the offer but agreed to attend and take pictures for free, as I would normally do. Overtime, this type of request began to happen more often, not just from friends but also from others that had seen my work. It was time to reconsider.

This had been a difficult decision until cameras came into the digital age. Today's digital cameras have cut much of the cost of development from the process, making it more cost efficient to be a photographer. Others say profitable but I say cost efficient since my prices are lower than any other photographer.

Today I can say that I have been a paid photographer in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area for over 10 years with experience in many events from large weddings to backyard BBQ's. I can also say that many photographers take pictures for the money but I take pictures for the fun. If hired for your event, you will receive a DVD loaded with good pictures in digital format.
